GERRY NAIDOO

With a wealth of experience in residential lending and business banking spanning over 40 years, I am now doing what I do best, which is finding appropriate and cost-effective solutions for my clients’ borrowing needs.

I have extensive New Zealand and international banking experience having worked for an international bank in corporate and trade finance in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia, UK and Malaysia. This international experience has given me the ability to relate well to all the diverse cultures that make up our beautiful country.

My New Zealand banking experience was through my role as Partner for Business Acquisition for the past 17 years with one of the big 4 banks in New Zealand based in Whakatane looking after the Eastern Bay of Plenty including Whakatane, Kawerau and Opotiki to Waihau Bay. A career highlight was receiving the top prestigious award for Customer Service Excellence which involved an all-expenses paid trip to Fiji with my wife.

I am at my happiest when I am helping people and I always do my best to provide holistic solutions through gaining a full understanding of my client’s unique circumstances and applying my working knowledge of the most appropriate products available on the market whilst keeping it as simple as possible for them. And most importantly having fun doing it!

For me, there is no better reward than helping a young family into their first home and seeing the look of joy on their faces. Or being able to assist hard-working entrepreneurs in starting or buying their own businesses.

I am well known in the local community having served on the Board of Trustees for Hospice Eastern Bay of Plenty and Trident High as well as being a serving Justice of the Peace for the past 6 years.

For fun I enjoy going out fishing with my wife Annie (even though she always catches more fish than me) playing squash, gyming and jamming with other musicians on my bass guitar or my acoustic guitar.

Starting with the BNZ back in 2005, I have built up a wealth of knowledge in home and Business lending over the past 17 years. I have used this experience in the financial industry to help many clients with financial solutions for their lending needs.

While having experience in a few different roles within BNZ, my highlight would be my Chevron award in 2017 as a banking advisor, this was recognition for outstanding customer service and solutions for those customers in home lending. This award is the highest award that is offered at BNZ and recognises my success.

My aim is to work to provide financial solutions for you, by understanding your specific needs before recommending the products to suit your circumstances. My goal is to make things as simple as possible and to ensure it’s clear what you are getting from your lending, and that you are as relaxed as possible whilst making these life decisions.

Having been in Whakatane for most of my life, I am well known in our local community, having coached the first team at Whakatane Town Football Club in the past, and also serving as a trustee on the board of Bay Wide Community Law. You may also see me getting around on my Vintage Vespa Scooter.

Also known as Ness I have notched up a total of 22 years in the banking industry with two of NZ’s biggest banks, starting at the young age of 19 (decades ago).

I worked in various roles including in the Personal financial sector and Business banking. I was lucky enough to work alongside amazing and highly experienced colleagues.

Over those two decades, the banking industry has provided me with so many experiences and knowledge from which I was able to pass this on to my clients and provide them with expert financial advice.

Let me take away the stressful and overwhelming financial aspects of home buying by keeping it simple and seeking out the best lending products that suit your needs.  My commitment to you continues with a review plan to ensure your financial solutions remain appropriate should your situation change.

I have a passion for property and love to share my personal experience of renovating, building and investing in residential property.

In my free time, you might see me walking our dog Sonic on our idyllic Ohope beach or hitting the beautiful local trails either by foot or biking.

After moving to New Zealand from Canada in 2019, I have worked diligently to refine my expertise in the Financial Services Industry and obtained my Level 5 Financial Certification with the Life & Health Insurance and Investment strands. I have family from Whakatāne, so my partner and I decided to return to settle in town.

As we got more embedded locally, I sought opportunities to better contribute to the community. Mortgage Bliss was the perfect opportunity for me to engage locally and focus my services in town to provide tailored financial advice while ensuring my clients are financially protected against the risks that matter the most to them.

I believe that every client is unique and that navigating the complex world of insurance can be daunting, which is why I take a personalized approach to every interaction. I work closely with our clients to understand their financial objectives and risk tolerance, enabling me to develop customized insurance solutions that meet their specific needs.

In my spare time, you will see me along the Warren Cole Walkway with my son in the pram every day the sun is shining, playing inline hockey or football. I am very passionate about personal finance including wealth building, budgeting, and consumer behaviour. I would love the opportunity to meet with you to get financial systems in place to help you meet your goals, or to just have a chat about the financial world.
